- 4 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer sliced potatoes in the dish, seasoning each layer with salt, pepper, and garlic.
- Mix heavy cream with grated cheeses and pour evenly over the potatoes.
- Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

- Can be prepared a day ahead; cover and refrigerate, then bake before serving.
