- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 (9-ounce) package refrigerated tortellini
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large pot, cook Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove excess fat if desired.
- Add diced onion and cook until translucent. Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil.
- Add tortellini and Italian seasoning. Cook according to package instructions until tortellini are tender.
- Season with salt and pepper. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a handful of spinach. Use homemade or store-bought tortellini for convenience.
